Plastic packaging giant Berry Global Group has proposed the closure to streamline operations, which could cost up to 95 jobs.
The company said it plans to consolidate the operations into other Berry Global operations, so some job transfers are expected. Berry group operates about 30 sites in total, with other Superfos facilities located in Blackburn and Oakham.
A statement read: “Despite great efforts on the part of many people throughout the Corby operation, the company says it has not been possible to bring the business into long term sustainable profit nor achieve a level of performance that would justify additional investment.” The BBC website quoted a spokeswoman: “We will work diligently to help those employees affected with a job loss to identify new opportunities in the Corby community and at other Berry locations.”
